Hired specifically to take two non-performing patent portfolios(wireless mesh and solar energy technology segments) the company acquired from independent inventors and turn them into revenue generating assets. Assembled a complete business infrastructure from the ground up for a publicly-traded company; handled all SEC filings. Expanded the monetization market opportunity; identified and filed patent infringement suits against targets in new market segments. Negotiated directly with infringers' counsel; closed $1.7M in licensing revenue from Itron, Inc., Sensus USA, Inc., Elster Solutions, LLC, Leviton Manufacturing, and EnergyHub, Inc. from 1 deal driver patent in less than 5 months.

San Jose, CA Vice President, Business Development & Technology Licensing Built licensing infrastructure for Tessera's core IP licensing business and subsequently developed and led Tessera's IP growth strategy. Core IP Licensing Business Developed the go-to-market licensing strategy with the objective relicensing the majority of Tessera's customers that were up for license renewals in 2012; 2014 company revenues exceeded $278M. Directed and closed~ $40M in patent acquisitions to strengthen the company's core semiconductor business patent portfolio. Built a business development and sales team responsible for licensing target accounts world-wide. Growth Business Developed Tessera's IP growth strategy(based on patent acquisition and monetization) from the ground up through an extensive strategic planning process involving marketplace competitive analysis, positioning Tessera as a differentiated IP player, business plan development, selling executives and the board of directors on the growth strategy and capital commitment, and putting in place the execution team. Assembled a network of relevant ecosystem players(attorneys, brokers, technical experts, patent legal experts, licensing executives, and potential asset sources). Identified and assessed technology and patent transaction opportunities and established deal specific transaction strategies; developed and maintained deal funnel. Interfaced with the company's board and executive leadership, transaction advisors and acquisition targets. Led internal and external legal and technical due diligence on acquisition targets.
