Clients:

  • Alterian, Aptina, Cadence, Cisco, DDNI, Marvell, Micron, Motorola, NTN Buzztime Trivia, Qualcomm, Tesla Motors

Deliverables:

  • Content inventories, content strategy, focus groups, IA specifications (detailing all interactions of a site - similar to a functional requirements specification), personae, sitemaps ("blueprints"), user survey questionnaires, usability heuristic analysis, wireframes

Tasks:

  • Consulted with clients about their business goals and proposed IA solutions and strategies that match their needs
  • Lead client meetings and content strategy sessions to capture necessary information during the IA process
  • Researched audience characteristics and performed competitive analysis and various user centered design documentation (see above)
  • Organized sites' content and functionality by creating site blueprints
  • Created identifiable nomenclature for users and navigation systems that support users needs
  • Analyzed, developed and refined user tasks/processes
  • Collaborated with Design and Engineering teams to build user interface wireframes

Achievements include:

  • Increased number of new user registrations for Marvell's Extranet by over 50%
  • Optimized the online purchase process on Tesla Motor's web site from 8 pages to 3, increasing reservations (and sales) for the 2009 model

Tasks:

  • Translated requirements engineering documents into standard information architecture and interaction design deliverables
  •  Gained knowledge concerning content and document management systems and their implementation, including commercial and open source CMSes (Joomla in particular)
  • Successfully advocated the need for an Intranet for the distributed team at a startup; created its file directory structure and administered the site
  • Advised regarding product development best practices, blog software platform selection and general technology choices
  • Devised marketing strategy using a revised user experience model; tasks included analysis of user base and needs, surveying existing user base, and creating a marketing strategy for outreach

Tasks:

  • Conducted requirements gathering (via stakeholder interviews) for development of custom software Web applications and web sites
  • Developed use cases and other documentation within the Rational Unified Process (RUP) methodology using Visio and IBM's Rational Rose software
  • Ensured a fully functional HTML prototype was delivered to the client on time and budget.  Helped manage project development team during development of prototype
  • Educated staff on Microsoft Visio and Rational Rose and on the importance of creating standardized documentation for all design documentation across the software development life cycle. Created documentation in support of the GUI development process for the prototype and internal use.
