Property Manager / Safety Officer
Mr. Cornejo’s main responsibility is to keep track of all Federal Occupied building under the MSC inventory through GSA’s Inventory Reporting Information System (IRIS), a web-based application that supports Public Building Service in the area of repair and construction, financial authorization and safety assessment for its federal buildings. With his professional and administration experience, he engages in all strategic planning by coordinating systems and solutions with all the Property Management staff and his fellow employees.
Also as an environmental officer in training, he has established a good communication and a working relationship with the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) supervisors and officers dealing with Underground Storage Tank to the Soil Erosion and Management department and also with staffs from the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (VDEQ) and District Department of the Environment (DDOE).
He Initiates practical strategy through constrant communication and research of regulatory compliance procedures, following steps and guide to avoid severe environmental enforcement penalties. He had been instrumental in managing to evade heavy fines and penalties on two occasion that saved GSA MSC building from being penalized by being proactive with all the people he works with. He has also been responsible in coordinating and updating Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plans for MSC buildings. Has been assinged as Project Manager to handle extraction and completed the removal of Underground and Aboveground Storage Tanks at the White Oak campus following regulatory procedures on Hazard waste.
As a safety officer, he has also engaged in a 5-day training for Occupational Safety and Health Administration where had undergone a 30 hour OSHA compliance course.
Prior to joining the GSA, Mr. Cornejo had been employed as a senior architect for 9 years working on various high-rise, mixed used and residential projects. His main responsibility was mostly focused on the planning and preparing contract documents and presentation drawing including field surveys and project management.
