Assembler/Fitter looking for new challenge with extensive experience in factory and site work including repetitive production ..Sales and Coordination ...
I started at A&T in as a fitter(where Im currently employed). A&T specialise in the bespoke fabrication, manufacturing/fitting/suppling control panels to customers requirements. My role is to fit the panels with plates/doors/internal and external fittings. I also deliver the finished products to customers who are based all over the U.K. I work as part of a fitting team whose remit is to start/finish all work panels to completion by a given deadline. The work is very repetitive but no two panels are the same. its is a very demanding role with a high degree of responsibility.
T and E were established in the 70s and employed about 140 staff. My last role as an installation engineer was to" fit" bespoke retail stands for a client based in Dubai called Emaar. Emaar are one of the biggest companies in the world who specialse in real estate inc shopping malls, retail and leisure. My remit was to fit roofs/drawers/rollershutters/lighting on each display stand. I worked in Dubai for appox 8 weeks with 2 other fitters. The work was long and arduous with a massive degree of responsibility to ensure the client was " happy" with each stand before being signed off to the customer. I also worked prior to this installing displays on behalf of Halfords and Curries throughout the Uk. I ve worked on countless display stands in lots of shopping malls in Uk and Europe. including MacAthur Glen, Westfield, and Intu being a few of our clients. T and E specialised in the manufacture of" carpet furniture". from the mid 70s but moved into other areas such as shopfitting. I joined T and E as a fitter. initially working in the main factory at halesowen where I helped to produce/fit a" golf gaming concept" for which a client bought 200.Top Putt were based in Watford but had golf ranges in both Dallas and Abu Dabi. I fitted the games throughout the Uk. The golf game was rolled out in various locations including Spain and Ireland, for various clients who included Exscape/Butlins/Centre Parks and most Airports in the Uk. Each install took approximately 8 hours to fit excluding drive time and for bigger sized units the install would be 3 days. I had to be very aware of health and safety at all times/sites. Below is a list of countries Ive worked in fitting various displays on behalf of T and E.
Spain...Stacks/Top Golf installs
Ireland..Top Golf/Karndean/Ideal home exhibition
France..Ideal home exhibition Cannes
Pallettrack are a logistics hub based in Bilston. My role as a customer service advisor was to increase the customer base business. I worked in an office with 4 others and our remit was to achieve 3 appointments p day for our field rep. I do enjoy challenges and liased with new customers daily. I was a successful team member and consistently hit targets. I was office based and part of a small team the atmosphere was very pleasant however there business base contacts list wasnt very large and we were constantly cold calling the same business repeatedly to see if theyd be prepared to swap/change there pallet distributor for ours. It was awkward and at times difficult to maintain talk time on the phone as well as get orders/appointments but we engaged/liased with potential customers to try to close the appointment. I bought£ 1, 000s of business to Pallettrack over a 12 month period
Shaws for Doors were an Australian door Company (DOORS PLUS) with 7 branches throughout the Uk but in excess of 25 stores in Australia I joined Shaws for Doors as a customer service/installation coordinator We employed approximately 30 salesstaff and about 15 production staff in our factory. including 4 staff in customer service department based in Tipton. My role was to" deal" with difficult queries which needed to be resolved. I liased with the area manager on a regular basis and Id provide solutions to customers problems/queries/complaints. I also scheduled work for all fitters, this involved phoning customers for suitable times for fitters to fit doors. Collating all materials for each fit ensuring all products ordered were ready. I also had the enviable task of calling customers and rescheduling appointments if fitters were" unable to attend". for whatever reason. had 7 shops based in the West Mids. and had a turnover of around £ 1.2 million p shop p annum. We employed 25 fitters who worked on installation of doors. internal/external/and upvc. I had to ensure the quality of each door was" fit for purpose" and would help load and check everything was correct and at times Id have to make" onsite" deliveries to installation teams. I also had the role of purchasing all hardware for each branch and once the stock arrived at the main facility it would be distributed by me to each shop. Working with the Installation manager we fitted countless upvc/internal and external doors daily. external doors daily. Im very hands on and enjoyed the role completely it was a very busy and pressurised environment and no two days were the same. The work at times was stressful. but very rewarding especially when a" major problem/fit has been resolved.
I joined Xknot in 1992 as a fitters mate.
Xknot were based in Acocks Green Birmingham and employed around 40 staff. My role was to assist with onsite installations.Xknot had a major role within Jaguar/landrover plants at Castle Bromwich/Longbridge /Solihull..I would be part of a team which included skilled fabricators and welders.
The work involved changing/modifying various things from erecting staging to constructing carousels . I would ensure all tools/materials were loaded and working correctly. Many jobs meant working long hours onsite until the job was completed.
During my time at Xknot I helped with the construction of balustrades staging chequer plate staircases.
When not onsite I drove a forklift and moved materials from A to B for personnel I also manned goods inwards and delivered various parts including prototypes to personnel at other manufacturing companies.
When I joined after 2 interviews I was told Id last 2 weeks as the owner sacked 5 people in 1 day and 22 people in 1 year.I have a "can do" attitude and strive to do my best...I stayed with Xknot for 8 years and during my final years I was liasing with "onsite" managers and acting as a supervisor between the client and our team, this was mainly due to the fact that the fabricators were very skilled but unable to string a sentence together and displayed little or no confidence in talking to senior personnel
