Clinical Systems Specialist


First medical systems specialist involved with installation of oncology information systems for ambulatory cancer center. Selected accomplishments include:

·Nevada Cancer  Institute opened paperless in 2005 across multi-departmental facility with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE).

·Laboratory workflow automated in 2006 with Laboratory Information System (LIS) to include real-time communication of orders and integration of reference lab results in patients' electronic medical record.

·Facilitated billing in-house with medical billing module developed to improve oversight of clinical business operations and support research-based clinical environment.

·Developed and applied technical solutions to support 2008 strategic partnership between University Medical Center and the Institute incorporating business requirements to distinguish each facilities' patients and track inpatient/outpatient activities.

Enhanced e-health product suite to help Purchasers and Payers engage and manage members' health. Consumers benefit from using a personal health record (PHR) system that integrates their medical history with biometric data, facilitates identification of health risks, and assists them with clinical decisions. 

·Ensured WorldDoc's library of over 1200 conditions and over 200 proprietary algorithms met evidence-based medicine and quality standards in collaboration with consulting physicians.

·Expanded the scope in which the system assists users in making better healthcare choices through symptom evaluation and health risk assessments, clinical guidelines-based decision support, pharmacy information, and integration of complementary tools provided by strategic partners. 

·Leverages multi-lingual skills to reach out to Spanish-speaking populations.

Performed usability analyses to redesign cancer registry system used at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

·       Designed IRB-approved survey administered to over 1200 healthcare professionals to assess needs and use of software tools and requirements necessary to support clinical functions and workflow.

·       Modeled a relational database management system to streamline collection and storage of patient and family history information, improve clinical functions, and enhance querying functionality.

·Prototyped a web-based interface to streamline collection of medical and family history information.
