Mechanical Engineering, minor in Sustainable Energy

University of Toronto

2012 Dean's list

2012 Mechanical Engineering 3rd place Capstone designer winner for most innovative thesis project

Portfolio

  1. Maple Leaf Foods (Hamilton), 2013- Designed innovative PLC system for platwide cooker odour control with a 34,000 lbs/hr watertube boiler. Oversaw proper and timely installation. Invaluable field experience gained including mechanical piping and spatial layout and limitations.
  2. Ferrum College (Virginia, US), 2013, 2014 - Designed PLC control system and server setup for a 20,000 lbs/hr biomass boiler. Presented an efficient control solution for the solid fuel feeding system.
  3. Enwave Pearl Street Steam Plant (Toronto), 2013-2015- Performed and managed the boiler safety checks and combustion tests on oil and gas fuels for eight 80,000 lbs/hr boilers. Upgraded Siemens pcs7 controls on burner managment systems  .
  4. Macdonald Dettwiler and Associates (MDA), University of Toronto, 2011-2012 - Researched a prototype interface for teleoperated lunar/mars rovers being developed by MDA Corporation that support the identification of hazards and reduce latency. Developed an advanced user interface and experimental evaluation on humans for unmanned vehicle operations. Working along side a well-known professor of industrial engineering at the University of Toronto. Presented initial review on visual and auditory alerts with respect to navigation and driving as a 4th year thesis (graded as 90%).
  5. Hatch Ltd, University of Toronto, 2011-2012 -  Part of a 4 member team that designed a capacitive based sensor which fits flush onto a turbine blade and can detect varying levels of ice accretion (graded as 95% overall). Third place winner in entire MIE faculty - winners were based on feasibility and success of the project.
  6. Windaid S.A.C. (Trujillo, Peru), 2012, 2015 - Involved in the manufacturing process of various wind turbine designs. Repaired wind turbines located on remote scallop farms. Verified and tested power outputs of the manufactured designs using common engineering techniques. Analysed areas of wind resource in remote villages of southern Peru.
  7. Personal Project, 2015 - Used solidworks to design a full sized arcade machine cabinet. Constructed the machine using CAD model, programmed the software using linux environment on a raspberry pi device. Client was satisfied with detail, craftsmanship and operation. Entire project took two weeks.
