Rick Ruvkun brings more than three decades of experience in investment management to his position as a Partner and Director of Domestic Equity Research with Lord Abbett. After starting with the firm as a Portfolio Manager in 2006, Ruvkun was appointed to his current role in 2008. As Director of Equity Research, he oversees a team of analysts that performs research and analysis for mid- and large-capitalization U.S. equities. As an authority on investments and valuations, Rick Ruvkun has appeared on CNBC and Bloomberg and has been featured in articles in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. An alumnus of Stanford University, Rick Ruvkun graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and subsequently secured a position as a Cost Engineer with IBM in San Jose, California. He held this position for two years before returning to business school at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned a Master of Science from the Sloan School of Management. Utilizing his diverse experience in finance and engineering, Ruvkun joined Merrill Lynch as an Associate in the firm's Venture Capital Division in 1983. In 1986, Rick Ruvkun accepted a position as an Equity Research Analyst with Morgan Stanley. After concentrating on the information technology sector, Ruvkun shifted his focus to the firm's Emerging Growth Fund. With this experience, he managed a portfolio of small- and medium-capitalization equities at Bessemer Trust beginning in 1993. He joined J & W Seligman in 1997 and became a Portfolio Manager in 1999.
