Based in Middletown, Connecticut, Dr. Rick Liva has built a successful career as a naturopathic physician and entrepreneur over the course of several decades. A graduate of the Temple University School of Pharmacy, he earned his doctor of naturopathic medicine from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Rick Liva began his career as a registered pharmacist at educational and medical institutions across the United States. During his tenure at Oregon Health Sciences University, he oversaw all aspects of patient pharmacological care, preparing intravenous fluids and conducting research into the uses and combinations of medications.
In 1982, Dr. Rick Liva joined the Connecticut Center for Health, PC, where he presently serves as managing director and naturopathic physician. In this capacity, he oversees clinic staff and handles the naturopathic treatment of patients. Dr. Liva maintains concurrent responsibilities as chief medical officer of nutritional supplement production company Vital Nutrients. In addition to maintaining quality assurance of all products, he consults with medical professionals on the use of supplements in everyday care.
Outside of work, Dr. Liva participates in a variety of hobbies, including cooking, spending time with his family, and kayaking on the Connecticut River. An avid traveler, he vacations in California and Puerto Rico two times each year.
