The recipient of a doctor of osteopathy from Des Moines University, Richard Pines has dedicated his career to psychiatry. Practicing primarily in Idaho for more than 15 years, he has extensive experience in diagnostic assessments, psychiatric medication management, acute inpatient hospitalizations, and staff education. Additionally, Richard Pines has engaged in community outreach by treating patients and training doctors in the state's rural and underserved areas.

Although based out of Idaho, Pines has traveled extensively. Having visited 49 out of 50 states, he has camped and hiked throughout the American West in places such as the Sawtooth Mountains, Glacier National Park, Mount Rainier National Park, and Crater Lake.

Beyond the United States, Richard Pines has witnessed firsthand the cultures of numerous European countries, such as Austria and Ireland. A trip to Switzerland allowed him to experience chocolate factories, the Matterhorn, and gondolas. His Italian vacation involved sojourns to St. Peter's Square, Venice, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Moreover, Pines has visited Costa Rica, where he went zip-lining and relaxed at outdoor spas. In December 2014, he plans to visit India with a close friend and an Indian Catholic priest who wishes to return to his hometown.
