In addition to his experience as a military professional, project manager, and entrepreneur, Richard Gorka possesses an impressive academic history. A Distinguished Military Graduate of Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, Richard Gorka maintained active involvement in student government throughout his education. In addition to serving as Vice President of a large residence hall, he held the role of President of the Kent State chapter of the National Society of Scabbard and Blade, a military collegiate honor society. Gorka graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management with a focus on Economics and Political Science and a minor in French. Richard Gorka also completed several graduate-level courses through Kent State University's Master of Business Administration program, as well as math and science courses at Spokane Community College in Spokane, Washington, many years later. He is also a graduate of the United States Army Command and General Staff College at Idaho State University, where he received a superior rating for his achievements in study. Professionally, Richard Gorka has held positions as a stockbroker, cost estimator, and insurance claims adjuster. He spent 20 years as a postal clerk and distributor with the U.S. Postal Service in Spokane, during which time he founded and independently operated Travel More, Inc., a company specializing in the rental of recreational vehicles. He also took time away from the postal service to serve with the United States Army, assessing and restructuring forces deployed to Bosnia and Herzegovina in light of the Dayton Peace Accords. Now retired, Richard Gorka enjoys spending time with his wife and children. Actively involved with his church, he participates in such recreational activities as golf, reading, and downhill skiing.
