Systems Engineer of the HUMSAT Project/GEOID Initiative

Systems Engineer for the management and development of the HUMSAT System/GEOID Initiative. This project is lead by the university of Vigo and supported by ESA through the GEOID program. UN has included this project as part of their basic space technology program in 2010. The main objective of this project is to develop a constellation of up to 13 CubeSats for providing a short-message bi-directional service in infrastructure-less areas. Applications similar to those developed for the GMES project are expected to be developed by other users once this constellation is operative. Besides, collaboration of additional countries who could develop their own spacecraft and could add them to the constellation, is expected to be the base for the maintenance and improvement of the performance of the system in a close future. For this, the HUMSAT Management Board (formed by several universities from across Europe, US and South America), will be the responsible entity for the definition of the communications standard interfaces which wil preserve compatibility among the components of the system.

Systems Engineer of the XaTcobeo project

The XaTcobeo project is lead by the University of Vigo in collaboration with INTA ( This project aims for developing the first 1U spanish CubeSat, to be launched with VEGA in its maiden flight. Therefore, it was selected by ESA's Education Office as one of the nine universities to be part of that flight. In this project, I am responsible for the Systems Engineering activities and Assistant for management and organization tasks.

Subject: Telecommunications Systems Engineering The main objective of this subject is to provide students the chance to develop the design of a space based system, by emphasizing the holistic view of the systems engineer. This way, students are grouped into 4 design teams, each one of them creating a different design as a solution for the same problem. It is a very dynamic class, where students are encouraged to participate with their own ideas, sharing and contrasting their points of view with the rest of the members of their team
