Principle technologist, engineer, and product architect for residential Digital Phone product (current annual revenue ~ $2.0 Billion).  Developed and integrated technology and business strategies.  Traveled extensively to represent Time Warner Cable telephony interests.

Select Accomplishments:

  • Provided corporate oversight for technology and market trials.  Managed vendor relationships negotiated  contracts with hardware and service providers.  Advisory board member Syndeo, Inc.
  • Developed VoIP business model and product strategy in close cooperation with executive management team including CEO, President, CTO, COO, Executive Vice Presidents and Division Presidents.  Contributed to industry direction through numerous strategy sessions internally and with other industry executives.
  • Defined national network architecture and developed traffic engineering models specific to cable service.
  • Member CableLabs/PacketCable Certification Board.  Active participant in CableLabs and ITU standards.
  • Invited speaker at numerous industry events and conferences.

Managed 65 member team responsible for hardware/software test and deployment for network interactive voice response unit (NIVR) with $200M in annual revenues.

  • Managed 65 member team responsible for hardware/software test and deployment for network interactive voice response unit (NIVR) with $200M in annual revenues.
  • Responsible for developing and operating multi-million dollar system and integration test laboratory facilities in Colorado and Texas.
  • Managed development and integration team responsible for several key components of the network interactive voice response unit (NIVR) including an enhanced SS7 signaling gateway,  platform and network monitoring/control system, and a node level monitoring and fail-over tool.
  • Staffed and managed software development, test, and operations support organizations.
  • Responsible for vendor management.  Negotiated software license reuse agreement with vendor resulting in $1.4M annual savings.

Manager, Data Systems and Integration

Select Accomplishments:

  • Managed team of 28 engineers, software developers, and technicians.  Designed and implemented centralized Oracle cost accounting and management system.  Responsible for development and commercial rollout of numerous software products serving the rail industry.
  • Conducted detailed briefings for domestic trade groups, international delegations, and government officials including U.S. Secretary of Transportation.
  • Led team that designed and produced wheel/rail force measurement device.  This patented technology (#5,492,002) has been licensed domestically and internationally generating several million in annual revenue.
  • Collaborated with scientists from the NASA Langley Research Center and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in developing methods for the non-destructive measurement of stress in metals.
  • Designed/coded data analysis system including sophisticated multivariate visualization tools. Using this system engineers were able to directly analyze large data sets significantly improving quality.  Introduced optical storage technology into field data collection systems.
  • Produced railroad wheel wear data collection and analysis system enabling identification of unusual wear patterns.
  • Re-engineered and enhanced critical force measurement device produced by the Illinois Institute of Technology Research Institute resulting in a ten fold improvement in accuracy.

Head of NOSC/ROTHR Engineering Group

Select (Unclassified) Accomplishments:

  • Led engineering group responsible for test and validation of the Relocatable Over the Horizon Radar (ROTHR) system.  Conducted research into effects of ionospheric disturbances on signal propagation.
  • Conducted top secret original research independently funded by Department of Defense.
  • Collaborated with University of Maryland scientists on a method for measuring large scale ionospheric disturbances using a frequency-agile, phased-array, high-frequency (HF) radio telescope.
  • Provided technical oversight of Advanced Research Lab/University of Texas (ARLUT) seawater plasma sonar transducer development.
