Renilton Soares de Oliveira was born in Floriano, PI, Brazil, in 1966. He received his first degree in computer science in 1987 from the Federal University of Ceara in Brazil. Between 1987 and 1997, he worked as a programmer, systems analyst, and IT manager for several companies, both in the government and in the private sector. Meanwhile, he obtained a certification of computer specialist from a Lato Sensu academic program (1988) and a bachelor s degree in computer science (1993), also from the Federal University of Ceara. In 1997, he was awarded a Fulbright scholarship (supported by several institutions including Encyclopedia Britannica and the American Chamber of Commerce - Brazil) to pursue his master s degree at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he graduated in December of 1999. His research work at the University of Florida has been focused on integration systems and data warehousing. He is also interested in electronic commerce and internet applications based on the Java programming language and XML. After finishing his master's program, Renilton worked as a software engineer for Syncsort, a software company located in New Jersey. Since November, 2000, Renilton has been back in Brazil working as IT Manager for local and international companies like TBM, a textile company which is the leader in production and export of cotton yarn in South America, and Del Monte Fresh Produce, which is a worldwide leader in fresh produce. Renilton has been also working as a lecturer at the State University of Cear in Fortaleza. Nowadays, he provides specialized services on IT management, software development, and business analytics. He has also been a member of the Special Interest Group on Management of Data (SIGMOD) of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).
My main areas of interest are management of information systems, data analysis and business
intelligence, and development and deployment of enterprise information systems.

- Has been an active member of the executive committee and the IT team for the implementation
of SAP ERP in several companies;
- Has supported the engineering department of an automobile manufacturer company in the
process of developing and launching new products; this support has been done by providing the
necessary infrastructure related to the adopted PLM and CAD applications (Smarteam,
CATIA), according to users’ requirements, not only from the engineering department, but also
from other areas involved in this process;
- Based on business requirements from various departments in its customers, has successfully
implemented and deployed software systems that helped boost productivity in areas such as
purchasing, sales, and production.
- Has participated in the company ISO 9000 certification process, which includes the definition
of management procedures and work instructions based on the best practices used in the
industry and requirements set by the International Organization for Standardization.

- Worked as the country project manager for the deployment and customization of Oracle EBS
and its localization modules for Brazil in a global corporate instance based in the USA; in this
position, I was responsible for devising and updating the project plan that involved all business
areas of the company, hiring local consultants in charge of setting up and customizing the
system according to functional and non-functional requirements, coordinating the work
performed by local and international partners, making sure functional and technical
requirements were met by the implementation, monitoring development and elaborating status
reports, and implementing, together with corporate IT staff, a post-production support plan.
- Managed all IT relevant aspects of local and corporate projects related to Brazil infrastructure,
services, and systems (e.g., Active Directory, Sarbanes-Oxley, Farming System etc).

Textil Bezerra de Menezes
Devised a project plan, requested by the company’s CEO, to provide all areas of the company
(from Sales to Manufacturing) with the functionality and key benefits of an integrated, webbased
system. This plan was based on the deployment of a new ERP system;
- Led the deployment and customization process of Oracle E-Business Suite at TBM, including
standard system functionality and customized applications developed by Oracle partners.
Regarding deployment of Oracle EBS in Brazil, it was a pioneering project in many aspects:
first deployment on Linux, first deployment of version 11i, first customer on the textile
industry, first deployment in this region of the country. In this project, I was a member of the
executive committee and I was responsible for dealing with technical and administrative issues,
including hiring and management of consultants, systems analysts, and key users;
