About Renee Sugarman

A graduate of Florida State University with a BS,MEd and Phd in science and education, Renee Sugarman taught under the auspices of the Georgia Department of Education for three years. At Forsyth County Schools, she served as a special education teacher. For Fulton County Schools, Ms. Sugarman taught science and special education classes at Northview High School. Throughout her tenure as a Georgia public educator, Renee Sugarman participated in the hospital/homebound program, providing continuity of educational services for students temporarily unable to attend school due to medical conditions.

Complementing her earlier work in education, Renee Sugarman lectures nationwide and writes youth literature on the subject of grieving. Currently drafting two books, she has won two awards for her previous titles, Where Is Nana? and A Teenager’s Guide to Death and Dying. During her several years working as a family service counselor for SCI, she has guided numerous families from diverse religious backgrounds through the process of losing their loved ones.

Certified by US Lacrosse and the Georgia High School Association, Renee Sugarman referees girls’ and women’s lacrosse matches, evaluates lacrosse camps, and raises funds for Israel Lacrosse. Her work in athletics also includes serving as commissioner of the NCAA women’s rugby Southern Wren League and providing fitness instruction as a certified independent personal trainer.

Along with her diverse career, Renee Sugarman frequently shows her paintings, drawings, and sculpture at art exhibitions. She contributes to several philanthropic organizations, including the American Cancer Society, the Humane Society, and the local Jewish Federation.
