n experienced financial professional, Renato Mazzucchelli has
served clients in the United States and Brazil. For almost 10 years, he
has operated his own firms in São Paulo, focusing on distressed debt and
collections. Currently, Mr. Mazzucchelli leads RCB Investimentos S/A, a
company that buys distressed accounts from major Brazilian retailers
and seeks to collect from debtors utilizing its in-house team. As of the
third quarter of 2011, his company held $5 billion worth of distressed
debt from 6 million debtors. In a recent article, Renato Mazzucchelli
stated the holdings change regularly as debtors work to repay what they
owe. As a result, such a business requires a great deal of information
technology infrastructure. Previously, Mr. Mazzucchelli founded
Multicred Investimentos Ltda., which was among the first companies in
Brazil acquiring and investing in distressed receivables.
Renato Mazzucchelli studied at the Yale School of Management in the
United States and earned a Master of Business Administration. He
completed a Bachelor of Arts in Management at Fundação Getulio Vargas in
Brazil. In his charitable endeavors, he supports CEBASP and Fundação
Abrinq, which honored him as a significant donor.
Following graduate school, Renato Mazzucchelli relocated to New
York, where he accepted a position with Lehman Brothers as an Associate.
After a year, he joined Barclays Capital as an Associate Director. For
both companies, he focused on emerging markets and securities comprised
of local currencies. Mr. Mazzucchelli subsequently became a Senior Vice
President for Gramercy Advisors LLC in Greenwich, Connecticut. For two
years, he assumed responsibility for the firm’s Latin American holdings
consisting of distressed debt. He traded the securities and developed
relationships to acquire new ones.
