Jazzman's Cafe and Bakery, Sodexo, Inc.
Jazzman's Cafe and Bakery, located on the Champlain College campus in Burlington, Vermont, serves college students, faculty, and staff who want great homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, and beverages. As student manager, I had a great list of responsibilities. I was part prep-cook, part supervisor, and often took on the responsibilities of my managers, so I got a great perspective on behind-the-scenes operations in food service. Below, some of my more key responsibilities are highlighted. 
  • Created and prepared daily menus corresponding to unique customer needs
  • Assisted in coordinating daily employee schedules
  • Counted and entered weekly inventory
  • Cooked made-to-order entrees meeting customer specifications
  • Recorded food temperatures and other sanitation properties according to HACCP
  • Maintained a sufficiently stocked cash drawer, requiring access to the safe
  • Trained new employees in following Sodexo policies and workflow
  • Maintained kitchen sanitation 
  • Promoted the cafe through good food and great customer service
