Product & Partnerships Manager

PostBug - - Mr Postman Ltd

Send and share paper letters and postcards in the post to well-known people. PostBug sends physical mail to celebrities, politicians, businesses and people in the news. Supporters can browse the site and find someone that they want to send post to. They then create a postcard or letter and make a payment on the site. The post is then sent to the recipient via an API connected to a UK mailing house. It has been created with the view of being a postal social network. We are based in Broadwick Street in Soho, London. This was a follow on project to Mr Postman App.

Experiences & Skills

  • Reported back to the majority shareholder(95%) on a weekly basis with updates and targets during development and post launch.
  • Due diligence and selection of the correct mailing partner/API, development team, payment provider, server specification & lawyers.
  • Sprint planning at the start of the development project and throughout. Project planning was done internally with my colleague and externally with the development team. The initial build was broken down into 5 sprints over 4 months. Each sprint ended in a sprint demo being released to me along with a sprint retrospective for me to give feedback for what needed to be improved and fixed in the following sprint.
  • Systematic and low fidelity mock up designs followed by more advanced prototyping using inVision.
  • CMS and front end specification document creation. The requirements were base upon user stories, personas and KPIs.
  • In control of the financial side of the business & project, this included budget control, cash flow planning and P&L.
  • I ran alpha and beta testing sessions in the office with contacts to get the feedback needed to improve the product before receiving the release candidate version.
  • Release planning and migration management of different versions of the site on the staging server and live server.
  • Management of the product backlog and roadmap throughout development and post release. Backlog features were ranked by user benefit, business benefit & revenue benefit.
  • Contract reviewing (E-commerce terms, terms of use and privacy policy) and PCI-DSS compliancy experience as online payments were being taken on the site.
  • Marketing included email marketing (A/B testing & recommending relevant content based on user behaviour), Google PPC & social media advertising.
  • Using analytical and customer behaviour to improve the user journey.
  • Reviewing customer acquisition costs and user spend along with other metrics to improve profit per customer.

Sale of Campbell Tech Ltd

Campbell Tech Ltd

A number of buyers were interested in purchasing my company as revenue was still being generated whilst I was working at Mr Postman App (more info on how I formed Campbell Tech Ltd can be found on the next page). The company was purchased by an investment group in Asia. During the sale I gained experience in co-operating with an audit, the legalities of a sale process and further experience of working with brokers.

Product & Partnerships Manager - Contractor

Mr.Postman App - - Propeller Mobile

Product manager of the iOS app and online campaign widget called Mr.Postman App. The Mr Postman native app was a 1 to 1 letter sending app. The online campaign widget was a many-to-1 model and worked in a way where a campaign starter would want to assist their campaign by allowing their supporters to send multiple letters to one place. Our project message was "in this digital age, physical mail can still have an impact, particularly en masse to one destination."

Experiences & Skills

  • Prioritising new features and improvements. I managed the product backlog and product roadmap of this app.
  • Growing the apps user base by over 200% using marketing and outreach.
  • In charge of the existing team of offshore developers that were used to create new versions of the app. Along with the product management side of this role I was in charge of partnerships with campaigners. The Mr Postman campaign tool meant we would get charities on board to help convert some of their digital campaigns and e-petitions in to physical letter sending campaigns.
  • Product development based on analytical evaluation.
  • PR experience using Gorkana database.
  • CMS functional design.
  • A key client I obtained and set up a successful campaign for was Save the Children. This was during the refugee crisis and over 600 letters were sent to David Cameron PM to assist refugee children entering the country. Case study:
