Project Engineer - Electronics


As a Tier 1 supplier to Fiat Group, CNH Industrial and their subsidiaries, MTA SpA has a global footprint within Automotive, Agricultural and Construction machinery.  MTA USA Corp is the North American branch of MTA global.  As a Project Engineer, my role and responsibilities are focus both on the technological aspects of the product base as well as the project management of new and existing applications.  With a manufacturing base overseas, it is vital to have local representatives interface with the customer to keep projects on track and maintain any North American design standards (i.e. USCAR, ENS, etc).  Additional responsibilities include quality control activities, such as investigations, facility support and recall/rework field support, and international travel for inter-company training.

Interface between Customer Technical department and MTA R&D department (electronic/mechanical division,engineering and quality).Provide technical support for meetings at customer site (product and project presentation,requirements analysis, design reviews).Resident engineer at customer site (short periods).Provide first analysis of customer request and claim (modification request, troubleshooting and quality issues verification on site).Perform device function testing on vehicle/bench at customer site.

Cosworth Electronics LLC

Cosworth Electronics (formerly Pi Research Ltd) is a supplier of data acquisition, control, telemetry and sensory electronics to motorsports series (Indycar, Nascar, ALMS, F1, etc).  System Application Engineer role was to utilize motorsport products in non-motorsport applications.  Projects were based on land and air vehicles.  Customers’ data acquisition requirements were realized with proprietary acquisition and sensory equipment, with custom serial communication interfaces where necessary.  Responsibilities included on-site resident Engineering, off-site customer technology support, field testing and installation.  Additional responsibilities included motorsport track support within Indycar, Nascar and ALMS, including international travel.

Actia Corp was a Tier 1 automotive supplier of instrumentation and control electronics.  The facility in Elkhart was a major supplier of instrumentation clusters to the motorhome recreational vehicle and school bus industry.  Senior Engineering Technician responsible for design interpretation and modification to existing product to support production schedules.  Application Engineer responsible for customer specification implementation, software validation and test generation, manufacturing test validation, and field testing of final product.

As a member of the facility Electrical Design Engineering group, responsibility was to interface with Systems and Operations departments to apply long term technology enhancements and restoration to the design basis of the facility.  Design changes generated using procedural guidance and were graded to government regulatory standards.  Each design change utilized current technology with industry best practices to ensure the protection of the plant and the public while maximizing the facility capability.  Per NRC requirements, quarterly participation in training on various systems and processes of the plant as well as recent industry events, safety and power generation.
