Director of Technical Design and Development

  • Build up the team in Dalian office as a base of vertical company / vendor to provide one-stop service. Create a blank new technical structure in Dalian office, including Technical Design, Fabric Technical, Colorist, Wet / Dry Processing, Quality Assurance and Social Compliance like a sourcing / trading company.
  • Technical Design : Each technician has to be responsible for each brand / label and train them to write comment when reviewing sample, and e-mail communication and follow up approval status.
  • Fabric Technical : Create the fabric team to alert the potential issue upfront during prototype stage, and communicate with fabric supplier and customer in advance. When the shipment sample of fabric is arrived, should pre-test by equipment in-house, and monitor the official lab-test result of fabric and garment to meet requirement
  • Colorist : Create color team to pre-screen ( Lap-Dip, Bulk Batch, Dye Lot and Shade Band etc. ) by Spectrophotometer to meet customer standard
  • Wet / Dry Processing : Create the Wet / Dry Processing team to interpret the understanding from customer and explain to laundry to achieve the standard, build up the Washing Library in-house in order to enlarge the businesswise for washed item ( like Denim ).
  • Quality Assurance : Get a leader to train to local QA managers and QA / QC to get more understanding of customer need, and train the factories to align with customer requirements / standard.
  • Ethical and Social Compliance : Build the team for evaluating the factory base and prescreen audit, before conduct the Social Audit to gain the certification ( BSCI, SMETA, WRAP, or SA8000 )

  • Get authority from technical designer / buyer confidence for approving the pre-production sample by Li&Fung, and send them for reference for saving time.
  • Screen all the garment lab-test reports to see any of “ Failed “ reason ( Regulation – Child Safety, Flammability, and Chemical causes cancer – Lead Content, Cadmium, Nickel, Formaldehyde etc. … ). Provide any technical advice to avoid the problem or improvement if necessary.
  • Assist merchandising team on the sewing construction, trims and accessories from comments, which were impacted on the quoted price, and work with merchandising team / buyer as closer as possible.
  • Convince the technical designers from buyer for approving the fit and pre-production samples with minor adjustments / corrections, and send them the correct reference sample for saving time.
  • Provides leadership and direction to Production QA team and factories to ensure compliance to the delivery and standards, and produce desired results.
  • Communicate with customers / off-shore factories by phone / video conference for any issue ( Fit, Technical, Size Specification, Grading and Pattern etc. ).
  • Assist merchandising team to search better factory for suitable product to hit customer requirements.
  • Assistant to adjust the paper pattern for the vendors / factories on fitting as well, while the factories not realize how to do the pattern alteration then.
  • Plan to visit buyer for building up mutual trust, and how is approval process.
  • Guide technologists how to communicate with client's technician, factories / sample makers, in-house product designer to be more efficiently.
