Managed recruiting, hiring, benefits, OSHA compliance, manager consultations and legal matters pertaining to EEOC complaints, wrongful terminations and internal thefts. Performed other ad hoc assignments in support of HR and operations.

  • Conducted a compensation analysis to create a 5-year plan for standardizing the pay of warehouse agents, customer service agents and drivers at all 11 terminals.
  • Recruited/placed 2 managers for hard-to-fill positions in the Seattle and San Francisco markets.
  • Liaised with internal and external resources to mitigate fines from government agencies.
  • Maintained OSHA 300 logs, recording injuries and representing the company in any OSHA investigations.
  • Gained proficiency in ADP, Reportsmith and Ceridian software.

Cargo transportation and warehousing company serving major airlines in the United States, Canada, Japan and China. Generated over $150M sales annually. Employed 1,700 people.

Managed the entire workers compensation function for 40 terminals, overseeing claims management, reporting injuries to insurance carrier and updating OSHA about injuries. Generated monthly status/cost reports for senior management. Handled all unemployment claims, and conducted employee training programs.

Major Contributions:

  • Eliminated $500,000 in unemployment claims liability nationwide.
  • Closed 92% of workers compensation claims in 1 year, reducing the amount of workers compensation reserve necessary by $450,000.
  • Reduced the company’s mod (experience) rating in workers compensation from 120% to 70% and lowered the unemployment insurance mod rate.
  • Implemented a safety bingo program companywide that drastically reduced injuries and injury costs, lowering one terminal’s costs from $22,000 to $500 in 1 quarter.
  • Saved $120,000 and received additional services by negotiating a contract with a new EAP vendor.
