Director of Advocacy and Strategic Partnerships

Alzheimer's Association

Manage and direct the OKC, Lawton, Enid and Ada offices of the Oklahoma Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.  Also serve as Lobbyist for Oklahoma for ALZ.

Was responsible for Walks to End Alzheimer's which reached/surpassed goals.  Responsible for direction of staff responsible for goal reaching/surpassing Gala and Longest Day events.

Responsible for 7 person staff in OKC and outreach offices in Enid, Lawton and Ada.  Responsible for Physician Outreach management for entire state.

Grassroots Organizer

SmokeFree Oklahoma
  • Acted as grassroots organizer and work with the American Lung Association the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association to develop and implement initial and ongoing plans for Client's issue advocacy campaign, including but not limited to developing and managing a grassroots organization designed to build and demonstrate support for the SmokeFree Oklahoma effort, and leveraged their organizational communication channels for educating and mobilizing supporters.
  • Identified key volunteers, get coalition groups involved in the statewide efforts, and served as liaison between local coalitions and SmokeFree Oklahoma.
  • Built and maintained the client's Smokefree Oklahoma alliance's database of supporters and coordinate with SmokeFree Oklahoma Co-Campaign Managers to recruit 20 new alliance members.
  • Coordinated and attended volunteer trainings and community events to recruit supporters and promote SmokeFree Oklahoma, as needed for the execution of objectives.
  • Monitored and maintained the SmokeFree Oklahoma website and correspondence.

  • Worked with new and existing members to enhance the revenue by 15% for The Chamber.
  • Managed the Oklahoma 21st Century Research Foundation including creation of the ACE Book of rankings, website along with Twitter and Facebook pages
  • Raised over $60,000 to facilitate the operation of the Oklahoma 21st Century Foundation
  • Secured grants of more than $35,000 for the Oklahoma Prosperity Project.
  • Assisted Lobby staff on issues during the legislative session by meeting with Legislators and monitoring information
  • Facilitated leadership retreats and Board of Director retreats for other organizations and Chambers of Commerce.

Redlands Community College
  • Established long-range strategic plans and development of marketing plans for the Institutional Development Office and Communications Department of Redlands Community College. (February of 2004 to March 2006 - reporting directly to the President while reworking their marketing strategy and re-direction of website, advertising and Foundation operations.)
  • Developed funding plan of over $6 million for new housing project on Redlands campus

City of Weatherford, Oklahoma

Consulted with the Weatherford Economic Development Foundation concerning strategic planning, industrial park development, job creation and the development of a wind energy farm.

Executive Director

El Reno Chamber of Commerce and El Reno Industrial Development Corporation
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operation and management of this public/private economic development office, including financial, staff and strategic planning.
  • Recruited new industry to locate within the employment area, and marketed El Reno through the use of public relations and development of current demographic data.
  • Developed and implemented Internet presence for the organization.
  • Results of activities were over $12 million of investment in the community, 1900 new jobs, and the establishment of the El Reno Venture Capital Corporation and $5 million of Federal assistance for affordable housing.

  • Led effort to secure a 10 year community wide exclusive soft drink contract, the first in Oklahoma, which benefits the El Reno Public Schools, El Reno Community College and the City of El Reno Parks and Recreation system.
  • Created the Leadership El Reno program and Legislative and Community Development activities.

Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce
  • Maintained and updated the Oklahoma Certified Cities program, a statewide training program for communities. Program began with 4 pilot communities and grew to over 75. Focus of the program was on training volunteers and resource people in the creation of long term plans for economic and community development.
  • Developed marketing material for the program.
  • Oversaw the Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce Executives Association and Oklahoma Economic Development Council (trade association for economic development professionals). Served as a direct liaison with all local chambers of commerce through training programs for local Chamber Managers.
  • Direct responsibility for the "Paul Revere Legislative Network", a grass roots information network providing legislative information to local members via printed material a coordination of weekly conference calls.
  • Created a five year strategic planning program for The State Chamber.
  • Provided facilitation services for local chamber of commerce board retreat and planning sessions.
  • Developed curriculum and taught at University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University as a visiting speaker.
  • Taught graduate classes in Planning and Community Development at the University of Oklahoma.

Mesquite Chamber of Commerce
  • Promoted Mesquite special events, including interaction with attractions, media, and group tour operators. Increased city hotel occupancy, enhanced the image of Mesquite, and increased opportunity for further hotel development.
  • Responsible for Annual Mesquite Balloon Festival - largest hot air balloon event in Texas with a budget of over $300,000.
  • Other responsibilities Included Transportation Committee staff position, Certified Hospitality Trainer (Texas A&M Extension Service in cooperation with State of Texas Department of Commerce.)
