About Ramzi Khazen

Ramzi Khazen serves as a principal attorney at the law offices of McKool Smith, located in Austin, Texas. He leverages both his legal education and his undergraduate studies in electrical engineering to assist corporations in the technology sector with matters involving intellectual property litigation. Most recently, Ramzi Khazen successfully defended four patents brought under institution of inter partes review before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). His arguments in the ruling not only benefited his client, but also opened new perspectives on the rights to file inter partes review petitions under the one year bar provisions of 35 U.S.C. 315(b).

Away from his legal practice, Ramzi Khazen volunteers his time and resources at Austin Pets Alive, a local rescue shelter. Also a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow, he helped found the Austin Cosmopolitan Rotary Club. His personal interests include armchair knowledge of quantum physics, and he enjoys reading Brian Greene on the nature of the universe. In addition, he likes to listen to Neal DeGrasse Tyson, a well-known host of multiple scientific radio and television programs.
