Manager - Canadian Capital Markets Risk Advisory

As a manager within the Capital Markets Advisory practice, Rajat has advised clients on regulatory initiatives such as IBOR transition and ISDA's Standardized Initial Margin Model for non cleared derivatives.

More recently, he had assisted a Canadian bank meet the US regulatory mandate (Federal Reserve Board/BCBS) for the implementation and use of Internal Model Based risk measurement approach.

Rajat has also advised capital markets risk technology clients on implementation of Machine Learning solutions for anomaly detection and imputation of market data.

Manager - Capital Markets practice

Delivered a variety of capital markets technology projects within the CIBC Global Derivatives and Strategic Risk Technology team. Worked on core trading/risk platforms for derivative products and implementing a breadth of projects including application builds, system integration, front end platform enhancements, business migration projects, client notifications & settlements initiatives, downstream data provisioning, regulatory initiatives and operational automation.


  • Delivered 871(m) regulatory project (US-IRS) for the clients’ Equity derivatives business
  • Assisted clients’ legacy system migration of structured products business and integration with downstream groups such as market risk, credit risk, client notifications, settlements and regulatory.
  • Delivered T+2 notifications & settlements solution for clients’ swaps and options business
  • Delivered IFRS 9 implementation of Hedge Effectiveness reporting system for the clients capital markets finance group.
  • Advised client on Variation Margin trade netting rules engine implementation. The rules engine helped the client realize cost benefits related to clearing of exchange traded products.
  • Advised client in the identification of technology strategy for their structured notes business which involved alignment of future state technology architecture, channel integration and workflow optimization.

Over two and a half years at Capco, Rajat delivered various business and technology projects at large Canadian and U.S financial institutions.  During this time; Rajat had progressive roles in business analysis, strategy, process optimization and technology delivery in Capital Markets,Wealth Management and Retail banking areas.

Project Portfolio:

  • Major credit card conversion program for 750,000 acquired customers with loyalty points at TD bank.
  • Strategic project to identify cost reduction opportunities through process automation at a large U.S insurance company (Fidelity National Financing).
  • Strategic project at BMO Capital Markets  to analyze capital markets middle office reconciliation processes across systems/product groups and developing a comprehensive view of the current state to address process gaps using a phased implementation plan.
  • Business Strategy project at TD Wealth to develop a comprehensive strategic plan that outlined a series of well-defined technology change initiatives across business units that had top line impact to the LOB.

Analyst – Closed End Funds Arbitrage Trading

As analyst for a closed end fund arbitrage portfolio valued at 25 million dollars, Rajat was responsible for researching new opportunities for investment, modelling of current and target investments, technical analysis and creation of proxy portfolios to ensure minimization of error in Net Asset Value estimates.


  • Generated a ROI of 6.5% over a reporting cycle during which I independently managed the portfolio.
  • Produced automation of internal data reports to generate information for P&L risk management.
  • Increased portfolio size by 7% by realizing new trading opportunities within the investment mandate.
