Serving both the academic and athletic needs of students, Rafael Vitolas currently teaches World Geography and Advanced Placement World Geography to an average of 140 students per year. Responsible for creating and executing daily lesson plans, Rafael Vitolas maintains an effective learning environment and keeps classroom control through positively interacting with students, forming a mutually respectful relationship. Implementing protocols acquired through his undergraduate and graduate education as well as through teaching certifications, Mr. Vitolas grabs the students’ attention with his engaging teaching style. Teaching in this position since 2009, Rafael Vitolas also functions as the head coach of the golf program. Participating in the competitive 5A bracket against other large high schools, Mr. Vitolas has doubled the overall team size since taking over the program. In managing the program, he creates daily practice routines, organizes the team on meet days, and keeps the team’s equipment and paperwork in order. Prior to joining the teaching staff of his current school, Rafael Vitolas taught standard and Advanced Placement World Geography at a high school north of Austin, Texas. There, he held an assistant coach role with the school’s varsity football team and a head coach role with the sophomore team. During the spring, Mr. Vitolas worked with the track team as an assistant coach and helped to produce the school’s annual invitational track meet. Between these appointments, Mr. Vitolas spent almost two years as an inside sales representative for Dell Computers. In this capacity, he successfully increased revenue for his accounts and exceeded sales quotas. Rafael Vitolas holds certification in Texas as a Composite Social Studies and Gifted and Talented teacher.
