Veterinarian Rachel Easterly DVM, currently owns and operates "The Doctor Is In" Veterinary Relief Services, LLC, in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. Vet-Stem is accredited and licensed to practice veterinary medicine in South Carolina and Florida, Rachel Easterly practices small animal medicine and general surgery. As a small business owner, Dr. Easterly educates pet owners, providing knowledgeable and compassionate care, and manages daily operations in her veterinary practice, both medical and business. Prior to opening her relief service, Rachel Easterly practiced veterinary medicine at the Columbia Animal Shelter in Columbia, South Carolina. She provided shelter medicine in the form of spaying and neutering, providing vaccinations, and micro-chipping more than 300 shelter animals. During her time at the animal shelter, she instituted a number of successful changes to the shelter’s operations. Her successful contributions included writing sanitation and disease-prevention protocols and developing communication procedures. She treated and documented cases of animal cruelty and coordinated with local rescue leagues to match pets with the appropriate owners. Before her work at the Columbia Animal Shelter, Rachel Easterly owned and worked as a clinician for three-and-a-half years at the full-service veterinary hospital Litchfield Veterinary Care, PA, in Pawleys Island, South Carolina. As the sole owner and operator, she treated local residents’ and visitors’ small animals and supervised all aspects of small business operations. Rachel Easterly also has research-related experience as a teaching supervisor at the University of Buffalo, New York, and as a medical laboratory technician at the Erie County Medical Center, also in Buffalo. Dr. Easterly holds a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine in North Grafton, Massachusetts. She entered veterinary studies with a Master of Arts in Biochemistry from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
