My name is Josephine Fairchild, I am the oldest of three and I currently attend Valhalla High School in El Cajon, California. My plans after high school include attending Utah State University and studying in their nursing department.  I absolutely love the town it is located in and the atmosphere surrounding the school. I am an avid member in my high school and the community surrounding it. Also, I am very passionate about the outdoors and volleyball. I am an avid hiker and many times I have caught myself admiring the beauty of nature.  I love hunting, fishing, swimming, and riding horses (when I get the chance to). My love for the outdoors has been around for as long as I remember, I've always shared a connection with nature. Volleyball has been one of my passions since around 6th grade. When I get on the court, I feel alive and the ball will not hit the floor without my body hitting it also. I try to put in my all when I play, so I can get the most out of it.

Interests and Community Service

Within my church, I have had many opportunities of serving others. Near Christmas time, I was given the amazing chance of volunteering at a homeless shelter. Also, I have done many small gestures, such as bringing baked goods to cheer people up and bringing already cooked dinners to families who don't have the opportunity/time to cook dinner themselves. Almost three years ago, I helped pull weeds at Southern Virginia University alongside fellow youth from my church.

Aside from church, I used to volunteer at the daycare my brother and sister went to, Children's Courtyard.

An interest of mine is to search for "hole in the wall" restaurants. My dad and I are huge foodies and one day two summers ago we found this Portuguese restaurant, which we loved, and restaurant hunting has been a hobby of ours ever since.

Another interest I have is singing. I don't usually sing in front of others unless I am very comfortable around that person, but I love to sing and music speaks to me in a way nothing else can. When I really listen to music, as in lie down somewhere and solely dedicate my time and energy to it, it's almost as if I've floated away with nothing but a nice melody and my thoughts to keep me company.

Work experience

Since the age of 11, I have been babysitting children from 6 months to 12 years old. I usually charge 2 dollars per hour, per child.
