Youth Corps

I joined the Youth Corps at the age of 14 in May 2011. This opportunity gave me my first “working” experience since I was too young to work anywhere at the time. At this time, I learned how to report to a superior, communicate well with a staff, and set up small events.

Landmark Forum

I took the Landmark Forum for Teens in September 2013, which taught me how to move past the hardships of adolescence and to take on adulthood. The next year, I took the Landmark Advanced Course in July 2014, in which I worked with other adults and gained effective leadership and communication skills.

Strong Work Ethic

In my most recent job, I worked as the food runner/busser for a small, successful restaurant. I would “open”, run food/drinks, buss/reset tables, bar-back, and close the restaurant; this “second hand man” sort of role built a strong foundation for my work ethic.

Effective Communication

In the Landmark Forum Advanced Course I was elected to be the leader of my delegated group. This position taught me how to set up meetings, keep in contact with members, work together, and meet and exceed the given expectations through effective communication.

Leadership Skills

I took the Landmark Forum for Teens, Adults, and Advanced Course. The leadership courses focused on interpersonal communication and critical thinking. We collaborated very often and worked in groups together in many activities. It gave me a sense of direction and guided me through what kind of characteristics can make a leader.
