Dear Ms. Rodman,

I am interested in applying for the communications/finance internship with your organization that was listed on I am currently a rising junior Relational Communication major with a concentration in American Political Studies at Queens University of Charlotte, and through my last year of study I have become interested in the political campaign process with regards to getting women more actively involved in politics.

As treasurer of Phi Mu Fraternity on campus I have learned how to be a leader and plan events for my chapter while also learning valuable teamwork and communication skills. My courses in my major and minor have developed an interest in campaign work and women’s political movements. My experience in planning events and organizational skills combined with my courses in political science and relational communication have convinced me that political campaigning is a career option I would like to explore.

More importantly, an internship with Annie’s List will be mutually beneficial. Your organization has an excellent reputation for empowering women to become the best possible leaders they can be, and I know that my combination of leadership skills, education and motivation to excel will make me an asset to your communication/finance department.

My current leadership experience and my passion for politics along with my key strengths are well aligned with your communications/finance internship position. My schedule is flexible and I would love to meet with you to discuss this internship opportunity. Feel free to contact me by phone or email.

Thank you for your consideration.
