While attending the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at RIT I took a few interpreting electives, K-6 interpreting, K-12 interpreting and legal interpreting. I studied educational interpreting taught by Kevin Williams, co-founder of the EIPA.

At the Applewood estate, I landscaped, designed gardens and led tours in English and ASL. I also performed general maintenance on equipment and performed clerical work including data collection and analysis from surveys and typed memos and used excel spreadsheet to enter data.

Through the practicum course at NTID, I worked at Norman Howard high school and Mendon High in Pittsford. I interpreted under the direct supervision of a mentoring interpreter in a variety of classes and situations. Including; math, English, science, social studies and writing.

Summary

My name is Andrew Harris, I graduated from the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester, NY. I graduated in May with a bachelor's degree in ASL-English interpretation. I have taken educational interpreting electives and have had several months of experience, through my practicum courses, interpreting in high schools. I plan on taking the EIPA  and I would like to work in the educational interpreting field.
