I have managed two Sherwin Williams stores, one in New Bern, NC and the other in Kinston, NC. My duties included:
-Control the P&L of the store.
-Develop and implement store market plan based on market conditions, store mission and financial/budget objectives.
- Train, hire and discipline employees.
-Give employee appraisals
-Develop and implement creative marketing strategies designed to increase market share.
-Conduct periodic market research studies to assist in developing marketing plans and strategies for the store to include:
- Profiling key competition in the market
- Visit competition.
- Conduct competitive product testing and comparisons to S-W and identify strengths and weaknesses of competitors versus Sherwin-Williams.
- Profiling potential customers by type and estimated sales volume.
-Make outside sales calls to support the market development plan.
-Assist in obtaining master and product specifications with architects and engineers.
-Ensure wholesale and retail customers are serviced appropriately to meet their expectations.
-Support sales rep selling activities.
-Handle customer complaints within district guidelines.
-Maintain store computer operating system and troubleshoot system as necessary.
-Place and follow-up on purchases from outside vendors per established policy.
-Ensure orders are delivered to customers in a timely manner.
-Manage the merchandising of the store according to district or company guidelines, including monthly promotional package, sales floor displays, etc.
-Maintain store inventory levels according to company guidelines to maximize sales and inventory turns.
-Conduct cycle counts and annual physical inventory in a timely and accurate manner.
-Ensure that the store is properly equipped and maintained to support the marketing plan.
-Ensure that the store warehouse area is organized and deliveries are being made to meet customer requirements in the most efficient manner.
-Ensure safety, loss prevention and security practices are followed according to policy and correct or report non-compliance.
