Representative Project Experience

Fairwind Hotel, 1000 – 1030 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33139

Senior project manager from SD through CA.

56,000 sq.ft. 78 room Boutique Hotel with restaurant and retail combining three historic Art Deco buildings (two buildings were creations of the well know South Beach architect Murray Dixon) with a 5 story high modern addition arranged to the rear of the site to create public and private courtyards. Major challenges over come were FEMA in regards to existing first floor heights of the Historic Hotel, ADA issues to maintain historic elevators, and fire issues with an open historic stair that also serves as a second means of egress. All issues and others resolved with no significant change to design.

Savoy Beach Club, 400 - 420 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33139

Senior Project manager from SD through CD.

39,000 sq.ft. New construction for ground floor commercial, residential and garage. Located in the Design Districts South of 5th, this corner lot building design has a creative play of scale with stacked two story residential units facing the streets and masking the parking behind. Some challenges for this structure included how to effectively isolate sound and vibration of parking structure from the residential and commercial uses in a small 150 ft by 150 ft site. Also, how to structurally support (3) two story penthouses and pool over a garage with a different structural layout.

Belvedere House, 235 East Rivo Alto Drive., Miami Beach, FL 33139

Senior Project Manager from CD through CA.

6,000 sq.ft. Newly constructed contemporary home located on a narrow lot abutting the Venetian Causeway and Biscayne Bay with views of South Beach. As the center piece of the house, the Grand stair was especially challenging as it was fabricated in New Orleans and shipped in three sections. Attention to detail became very important to correct the imperfections in the fabrication of the stair and to give it a finish that creates a very sculptural and monumental feel to the two story atrium entry space.

David’s Cafe, 1058 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33139

Senior Project Manager from CD through CA.

10,000 sq.ft. The one time historic gas station with expansive archways restored and fitted with glazing is one of South Beach’s most iconic locations that transform the former underutilized site to a 24 hour Diner and Cuban Restaurant. Much research has gone into discovering the appropriate ornamental features to clad the historic façade that was lost through the years and help to differentiate the new layers of architecture from existing.

FIU Lakeview Hall, 11040 & 11060 SW 14th St., Miami, FL 33174

Project Manager from CD through CA.

250,000 sq.ft. Student housing nestled into FIU’s main campus as two reverse mirrored structures built to accommodate 825 beds. Interesting forced perspective views down corridors, connections through open breezeway under the center of each building to a common courtyard with form and color combinations and contrasts make this dorm a unique and vibrant place to be. Because of the forced perspectives and playful expression of the facade, no two rooms were ever identical which when finished is impressive and made for a formidable time coordinating consultants during CD’s.
