Ralph Wadsworth Construction

One of seven sons, I worked for Ralph, my father as a general laborer, carpenter and superintendant. Here I learned the meaning of 'hard work' and became a fairly decent concrete form setter and finisher. It was also during this time that I developed a yearning to be a contractor. I had witnessed first hand the contribution that contractors make to our way of life, adding things real and tangible as well as the rewards that come with it. So, I soon began taking on side jobs in the evenings and on weekends which eventually lead to the formation of my own construction company, Cal Wadsworth Construction.

The Executive Committee (TEC)

I was a TEC member for over 10 years. Designed for company presidents, The Executive Committee was a group think tank of approximatley 10 members that met one full day monthly to discuss business issues, share knowledge and listen to resource speakers from througout the United States. The company has since became known as Vistage.

Associated General Contractors of America, Utah Chapter

Elected by my piers I served as Utah Chapter President in 2002, a year of unprecendented growth. Our mission statement was "Relatiohships, The Key to Success". We established such things as the Safety Mentoring Program designed to promote active sharing between otherwise competitive firms of safety procedures and tools that were designed top bring our employees home safe each night. Rich and I also made a committment and followed through with it, to pay a personal visit to as many members offices as we could. We topped off the year with country music star Glen Campbell performing at our yearly convention.
