Summary

I am greatly interested in majoring in Computer Science. I have currently been accepted to Rochester Institute of Technology and Neumont University, which are both technology-oriented schools.

Although I am focused on technology, I also enjoy recreational creative writing and art. I enjoy computer art, sketching, and sculpting. Creative writing is a passion I have and would like to explore it during college, wherever I decide to go.

Skills

Skills

Perl

I have begun to independently learn Perl from online tutorials, calling upon my knowledge of Java, C++, and Python to learn the basics.

Ruby

I have begun to independently learn Ruby from online tutorials, calling upon my knowledge of Java, C++, and Python to learn the basics.

Python

Began to learn in 9th grade on my own, continuing to explore it by communicating with other programmers in online forums.

Adobe Flash

Independently learned in 7th grade, in order to create flash movies for websites such as Newgrounds. I became steadily better at editing movies and writing ActionScript for flash games.

Adobe Photoshop

Began to experiment on my own in middle school after showing an interest in graphic design. In 7th grade, I proceeded to take a Photoshop Editing class, which helped to teach me the basics of Photoshop. Afterwards, I continued to practice editing photos, becoming increasingly proficient. During 11th grade, I took another Photoshop Editing class, in which I created "Narcissism", a picture that won 2nd place in the Peninsula Fine Arts Center High School Competition.

Ubuntu

During the James Madison University High School Cyber Defense Competition, I learned how to detect and fix intrusions from the "Hacking Team." Although I had limited time and worked with Ubuntu, I was able to quickly learn the basics of the language.

HTML/PHP

Learned on my own at age 10 in order to code my own webpage, which displayed cheats to Nox, a popular video game. I proceeded to learn HTML in 9th grade officially, increasing my proficiency. I then learned PHP formally in 11th grade, expanding my skills significantly.

C++

Learned on my own in 9th grade, while being formally taught in 10th grade. Cumulatively used in several Newport News Computer Challenges in 2008 and 2007, taking 1st and 3rd places respectfully.

Linux Red Hat

During the James Madison University High School Cyber Defense Competition, I learned how to detect and fix intrusions from the "Hacking Team." Although I had limited time and worked with Linux Red Hat 4, I was able to quickly learn the basics of the language.

Java

Began to learn during 11th grade through help from 12th grade students, while also exploring it on my own. This current year, 2009, I am increasing my familiarity with Java, allowing me to compete in all stages of the Great Computer Challenge.
