Co-led the Personal Data Ecosystem Consortium, a new trade association for personal cloud services, health record banks, personal data infrastructure and other startups that build personal control of personal data into their products. Edited "Personal Data Journal", the first industry magazine in this space. Built a training service revenue stream. Researched and communicated complex policy, design, economics, and engineering ideas among political, technology, consumer, and industry publics in North America and Europe.

Principal Investigator - Enterprise Blogging and Project Communications

Pioneered the use of blogging for building communities of practice and knowledge management. Started blogging in 1998 about the intersections of business with information technology, and management with social media. Spoke at 2003 and 2004 conferences in London, Vienna, Berkeley, and Boston on social media and blogging in the workplace. Consulted on social business practices. Led projects using blogs, wikis, Skype, and other social media for crisis communications and disaster response.

As a director I helped define this not-for-profit advocacy group's charter, its policies, and supervise its programs. The DataPortability Project advocates a borderless experience among web sites, where your social graph, conversation history and everything you do online is available to you wherever you go, across any site. The DPP advocates web site operators use a Portability Policy to explain data portability capabilities and policies they offer visitors. I was part of a small team that wrote the model Portability Policy and launched it in July 2010.
