About Phillip Monk

A senior master sergeant in the United States Air Force, Phillip Monk has distinguished himself both as an airman and as an administrator. Currently a superintendent at a major Department of Defense laboratory, he oversees an 185-member staff across diverse departments. Since assuming this role in 2013, Phillip Monk has improved efficiency and saved the department $200,000 annually. Sergeant Monk has also led the inaugural staffing of the Department of Defense's largest blood bank center, facilitated a high-complexity location change for the only cytology lab within the Air Force, and created an improved technician training program that now upholds a 100 percent pass rate for first-time candidates.

Outside of his current responsibilities, Phillip Monk’s professional experience includes facilitating training at Lackland Air Force Base, the branch's highest-profile basic training center, where he played a key role in managing a high-profile legal issue. In addition, he held responsibility for the coordination of logistics and human resources services for 1,200 individuals living and working in Saudi Arabia

Over the course of his career, Phillip Monk has received more than 10 distinct awards for his service to the United States military. He most recently accepted the Meritorious Service Medal, his fourth honor of this kind.
