Senior HR Consultant (Benefits, LOA Management)

Serving as primary point of contact for all Tides employees regarding LOA, FMLA, state mandated programs, short and long term disability, and workers’ compensation.

  • Educate employees and managers on leave eligibility, length and types of leaves, HR policy, and return to work procedures. Estimate pay for employees, considering vacation and sick time combined with other benefits.
  • In charge of full management of workers’ compensation program including filing claims, corresponding with Travelers Casualty, and gathering proper documentation.
  • Responsible for administration of employee benefits. Sustaining contact with providers (Kaiser, Cigna, Transamerica, Flex-Plan, VSP) and employees to facilitate complete utilization of plans for all employees. Handle benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable resolution.
  • Process enrollment for all new hires and maintain benefit records in ADP Workforce Now and resolves benefit information systems inquiries. Reconcile benefits accounts by preparing and approving billing statements.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory rules associated with benefit plans, federal and state requirements, and Tides SPD.
  • Assist in frequent evaluations of internal and external administrative processes.

The Permanente Federation LLC provides governance and policy direction to the Permanente Medical Groups.

Contract position. Coordinated effective administration and communication of all company benefit plans and programs, including open enrollment, recruitment, employee relations, new hire onboarding, auditing, and leave management.

  • Performed orientations and exit interviews as needed, administered terminations, transfers, promotions, and benefit services, e.g.,  health & wellness, retirement, worker’s compensation, COBRA, Flex and Commuter Spending.
  • Managed all LOA processes, including counseling employees regarding filing claims, PTO and ESL accrual, leave laws and potential implications. Facilitated communication with HR staff, managers and disability carriers. Also, designed and launched new FMLA projected time line charts.
  • Performed internal HR audits, researching part-time worker benefit status and 401(k) enrollment. Coordinated course of action in adjusting employee contributions. Provided frequent support and guidance to employees.
  • Ensured compliance in federal and state requirements with HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA and FLSA.
  • Processed benefits transactions and consulted with outside vendors: Vanguard, UNUM, Delta Dental, and MetLife.
  • Reconciled all monthly benefit bills; reported findings to Payroll. Completed extensive data entry in HRIS system.
