About Phil LaTessa

Phil LaTessa is a managing member of The Funding Source in Syracuse, New York, which he founded in 1996. The company began as a mortgage broker but grew to become a HUD-approved FHA lender by passing tests and audits. Phil LaTessa later became a HUD FHA Delegated Underwriter by performing 30 test case underwrites. He has developed his Syracuse-based company over the years, adding multiple departments and hiring five managers. Currently these departments include sales, accounting, post-closing, underwriting/processing, and risk management. All five are crucial to the company’s growth and operations. The company also acquired other companies and grew to become a mid-sized lender within 15 years.

Prior to launching The Funding Source, Philip LaTessa began his career as a loan officer with Ottley Mortgage. He moved on to JP Morgan Chase, where he spent four years as a conventional and government-focused residential loan officer. He was also elected as a city auditor for Syracuse, a position he retained for six years.
