Atlanta Bread Company is an award-winning, up-and-coming casual dining restaurant chain founded by Jerry Couvaras and Basil Couvaras in 1995. As the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President, Basil Couvaras has played a key role in the company’s growth by facilitating a number of strategic planning initiatives, including menu engineering and highly innovative product branding. As CEO and President, Jerry Couvaras guides the company’s financial and business operations. Under their leadership, Atlanta Bread Company has grown to more than 100 locations in more than 20 states across the country. Jerry Couvaras and Basil Couvaras are particularly proud of the chain’s awards, which have come from a variety of publications and surveys over the past few years. In 2010, Atlanta Bread earned a top-5 distinction in 2 of the Zagat Fast-Food Survey’s categories: Healthy Options and Facilities. That recognition was just the latest in a series of honors and distinctions Jerry Couvaras and Basil Couvaras have earned for Atlanta Bread . Other recognition has come from Health, Parents, and Fast Casual magazines. Jerry Couvaras and Basil Couvaras attribute the franchise’s continued success to ongoing menu upgrades and attention to branding. In late 2009, Jerry and Basil Couvaras launched the new rebranding of Atlanta Bread's catering service, Pronti. Basil Couvaras is a graduate of Rand Afrikaans University in Johannesburg, South Africa. He earned his BA in Communications and Industrial Psychology from that institution and then went on to obtain a post-graduate degree in Industrial Psychology at the University of Witwatersrand on full academic scholarship. He was also the recipient of the McCann marketing award in college. A frequent contributor to local and national charities, such as Prevent Child Abuse GA Basil Couvaras lives with his wife and two sons in Atlanta, Georgia. Jerry Couvaras is a former investment banker from Johannesburg, South Africa. While working in that capacity, he held an ownership stake in several food companies, allowing him to learn the various facets of the restaurant industry. Jerry Couvaras currently sits on the boards of FOCUS, Concorde Fire soccer club, and the Hirsch Academy.
