Throughout his career as a technical professional, Peter Vicinio has gained a wealth of experience in customer engineering, system administration, and technical support. Mr. Vicinio currently works as a Systems Administration Consultant with Dow Jones & Company Inc., where he implements and supports a Market Data Ticket Plant that consists of over 350 development, quality assurance, and production servers. He performs regular system administration tasks for critical servers, including file management, user account management, security, performance tuning, and operating system installs and upgrades. Before starting his current position in the Dow Jones Market Data environment, Peter Vicinio spent five years in the very time sensitive Dow Jones Newswires environment. Prior to joining the team at Dow Jones & Company, Peter Vicinio worked for five years as a Senior Support Engineer with Tandem Computers Inc., which later became a part of HP. In this capacity, Mr. Vicinio provided professional services for many of Tandem Computer’s customers, which included Valley National Bank, AT&T, New Jersey Transit, and Dow Jones & Company. In addition to large-scale system migrations and operating system installations, he frequently performed on-site system administration and system administration training. During his time at Tandem Computers, Mr. Vicinio also worked as a Customer Engineer and a then a Senior Customer Engineer. Peter Vicinio received his degree from Devry Technical Institute, where he earned a spot on the Dean’s List. He also has completed a number of continued technical training courses throughout his career, including Red Hat Enterprise System Monitoring and Performance Tuning at Global Knowledge, a Sun Systems Fault Analysis Workshop at Sun MicroSystems, and Solaris Network Administration by Dow Jones & Company. Mr. Vicinio’s personal interests include following professional baseball and football, physical fitness, rollerblading, gardening, and spending time with his family.
