As President of Brownells, the world’s largest supplier of firearm accessories, Pete Brownell is responsible for the company’s finances, strategy, and communications. Pete Brownell joined Brownells in 1997 as marketing director, serving in multiple positions for nine years before being named President. In 1939, Pete Brownell’s grandfather, Bob Brownell, founded Brownells, now based in Montezuma, Iowa. Before joining his family business, Pete Brownell attended the University of Iowa, where he earned a BBA in Administration and Marketing in 1991. Pete Brownell returned to the University of Iowa in 2000, receiving an MBA from the Henry B. Tippie School of Management. Under Pete Brownell’s direction, Brownells continues to provide ammunition, gun parts, gunsmith tools, firearm accessories, and reloading equipment throughout the world. In 2010, Brownells will host a two-day gunsmith career fair in Des Moines, Iowa. In addition, Pete Brownell remains heavily involved with the nonprofit Pheasants Forever, a conservation group dedicated to protecting pheasants, quail, and other wildlife. Brownells assisted Pheasants Forever in creating and promoting the organization’s gun testing event. Currently, Pete Brownell divides his time between operating Brownells and campaigning to join the National Rifle Association Board of Directors. Pete Brownell currently serves on the boards of Knife Rights, protecting the rights of knife owners; USA Shooting Foundation, supporting Olympic athletes as well as those striving to become Olympic athletes; Professional Outdoor Media Association; and Grinnell Regional Medical Center.
