Perri Collins joined the staff of the Arizona Newspapers Association in fall 2006, after over 10 years as a consultant, entrepreneur, writer and web designer with a long history of creating and marketing products in print and online. In addition to bringing her industry and academic experience to every project she tackles, she brings her extensive experience in technology and information as Communications Manager for ANA.Collins graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. She has been on the Cronkite School Academic Bowl team for three consecutive years and was selected to study in the Knight Center for Digital Media Entrepreneurship. She was also the recipient of an Arizona Press Club Scholarship for design (two years in a row), the Jim Ned Foundation Scholarship for academic achievement and a Tech Prep award for advancement in computer technology.Prior to joining the staff at ANA, Collins was employeed at the Phoenix branch of US Concrete, one of the largest concrete companies in the country. She also interned at KTVW, the local Univision affiliate and worked on the Associated Press Elections Results Reporting Team. Her current work and research interests are in online journalism, social networking and multimedia reporting. Collins is a member of the Arizona First Amendment Coalition and the Society for Professional Journalists. She has volunteered for the Investigative Reporters and Editors when they held their annual conference in Phoenix in 2007 and volunteered on several occasions at KAET-TV. She has volunteered for the Boys and Girls Club, the City of Tempe and the Salvation Army. She also sits on the advisory committee of YoreTown.
