As Manager of Metals Chemistry my current responsibilities include:  Managing a team of degreed chemists on staggered / multiple shifts to perform time sensitive testing for a wide variety of internal and external clients on metal base materials. In charge of chemistry operations, personnel, and production scheduling as well as coordinating additional improved capabilities for instrumentation and techniques.  Working directly with customers to answer questions, manage specific projects, coordinate visits, and represent the Metals Chemistry Department in audits. Providing insight into the quoting of new jobs, signing analytical test reports, and other operational necessities such as testing samples, technical review, revising reports, subcontracting requests, corrective action requests, and helping maintain a productive and cohesive team to achieve our goals of flawless Quality, reduced Turn Time, and improved On Time Performance. Results include achieving or exceeding 95% on time delivery of department reports by our customers' required deadline, as well as reduction of test turn time for instrumental and wet techniques below 3 and 4 days respectively.   Identifying opportunities for cost management such as addressing consumable costs with accurate allocations, and evaluating different suppliers. Results include the reduction of Outside Purchases by up to 76% from Q2 to Q3 in 2012 for the department. Giving input into test costs, customer discount schedules, and improving profitability through the continued evaluation of the Metals Chemistry business model and value stream.
