Good News Mission

• Interpreting all sermons from Korean into English, ensuring the accurate delivery of the intended message to non-Korean members of the congregation

• Translating official church documents, testimonies, magazine articles, and accounts from Korean to English (see Tomorrow PDF in Portfolio for sample translation work)

• Worked closely with the Strathcona Business Improvement Association's (SBIA), maintaining frequent communication to thoroughly learn about its Green Zone Initiative (GZI), an ongoing effort to rebrand and market the Strathcona area as a safe, green, and sustainable locale to do business• Co-developed a marketing strategy with a team of 2 other colleagues to aid the SBIA's marketing endeavors, by suggesting volunteer recruitment, organization of an official launch event for the GZI to bring together members of the community, leveraging the talents of volunteers and local artists to promote the GZI through print media and marketing communication channels, and orchestration of a social media campaign utilizing blogging, Facebook, and Twitter (see SIFE SBIA Report in Portfolio)

International Youth Fellowship (IYF)

• Developed instructional materials to deliver weekly Korean lessons to 3-6 university students every semester

• Supervised and trained 3-5 volunteer instructors who each taught 3-6 university students every semester

Conducted and translated (into Korean) an interview with a member of SFU faculty for an article to appear in Tomorrow magazine, a quarterly, self-cultivation magazine for youth

• Recruited 16 high school and university students comprising the Vancouver delegation, leading them to the first 2010 IYF World Camp held in the continental United States, in the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA)• Hosted and set up several photo exhibitions and delivered presentations on the Good News Corps (GNC), a 10-month overseas volunteer program, resulting in increased awareness about this unique program• Helped launch the first IYF Cultural Expo in Canada, featuring decorated booths for 13 countries showcasing a diversity of cultures, music, food, traditions, and games, and raising IYF's profile to hundreds of SFU students and garnering interest in its volunteer opportunities

Simon Fraser Korean Undergraduate Link (SFKUL)

• Engaged members of the Korean business community on North Road to secure sponsorship funding for popular events such as the annual university admissions seminar for high school students and their parents

• Helped coordinate a university admissions seminar, providing helpful admissions information and counseling in Korean to nearly 25 high school students and their parents

• Prepared and hosted a fall orientation event to help new Korean students adjust to university culture and integrate into the Korean community at SFU

• Organized a Krispy Kreme fundraiser, raising $300 to go towards a traditional luncheon for members of the Vancouver Korean Seniors’ Society

• Performed secretarial duties such as keeping meeting minutes, managing archives, and distributing meeting minutes and announcements to executive members in a timely manner

• Acted as a liaison between SFKUL and the Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS), managing event room bookings, equipment rentals, and coordinating club-society relations by resolving matters of dispute
