Apr 2010 - Oct 2011

Manager

Kuilsriver Butchery

My father bought the butchery in 2010 and since then my father and I co-managed the shop. In this time I gathered a broader knowledge of managing funds, staff, customers  and the responsibility of working with finances and stock.

This has also shown me how to approach different sectors in the market and ways of establishing a market for your specific market area.

Jan 2009 - Apr 2010

First Level Management

Perdeberg Winery

My first year after matriculating, I worked at Perdeberg Winery as a first level manager. In my job description I was listed to do some aspects of managing the work force under my authority as well as managing information, processing it and then making decisions regarding the analysis. I was also entrusted in locking up and inspecting the workplace in relevance to the food and beverage health standards as well as safety standards.

As this was only part time work for the harvesting season, I stopped working at the Winery in April 2009 and then rejoined them in January 2010. I was rehired in the same working capacity but this time my job was to manage the incoming stock and doing basic warehousing of products. Again I worked there till April 2010.

This position gave me a greater understanding and responsibility towards working in an industry where one mistake can cost the company a lot of money and very easily cost you your job. It also taught me to cope and be able to function in highly stressful circumstances for extended periods of time.

2008 - 2010

Youth Leader (volunteer)

Ignite (Logos christian church)

In 2009 I found my self getting more involved at church and in serving the community.

As my natural skill of leadership has developed over time and the leadership roles I had was done due to me not being in school any more I felt it natural to step into a leadership role in my community.

Soon I was recognized as a leader between my peers and was asked to join the ministry team as a youth leader. At first my roles was mearly to "lead by example" and after proving myself as a substantial part of the leading body, I was given more responsibility in organizing and running the ministry.

In  2010 I became the events and outreach coordinator.

My biggest project  as coordinator must have been the four week outreach to Middle Africa.

My time at Ignite gave me a large amount of people skills and it gave me a new understanding of just how unique every individual is and how to respect that and be able to enhance, motivate and work with there personalities.

2007 - 2009

Sight Manager

Pleasure Pools

I started working at Pleasure Pools at the age of 17 during my 2007 school holidays. As this was my firs real job I started out at the bottom. I was originally signed up to do more of the petty jobs on sight and generally just helping the sight manager oversee the projects.

I kept on working for Pleasure Pools for the next two years wiles finishing my schooling. After matriculating, Pleasure Pools gave me the opportunity to be sight leader and in 2009 I was promoted to sight manager.

My job as a junior sight manager consisted out of :

managing the work force

managing stock

delivering stock

ordering stock

managing funds

communicating with the customer, architect, engineer on behalf of head office

making sure the project was on schedule and up to standard

Working at Pleasure Pools definitely gave me an incredible base to start my career life of.

Objective

My objectives when it comes to my career is simple, I want to secure a good job in the business industry. I know that I will have to start at the bottom but with hard work and dedication I know I will be able to work myself up in the corporate ladder. I know I have the ability to surpass my peers and succeed in my goals.

Summary

I see myself as a hard working individual, especially when it comes to the work and hobbies that I prefer.

I am currently a student at IMM Business School of Marketing, and the more I learn about the business world out there and the ways I will be able to integrate my knowledge and "bag of life" into my job, the more exited I get about the work.

I am a relatively calm and collected person that always ends up in some kind of trend setting social network, either with colleagues or friends.

Since I can remember I was chosen as a leader, if not for the position as class captain or leader of some sort of commitee it was for making and organising the plans for outreaches or just plain get togethers.

In the travelling I have done and working alongside my father, I would say that I have generally good life skills and a high level of maturity and moral standards.

I have learned a huge amount of business skills from my father. As he is a self-employed entrepreneur he thought me that no job will get done if you don’t fully commit and do more than is expected of you. Therefore this is one of my philosophies, do more than those around you and you will reap as those above you.

Interest

Hunting

As a young boy growing up on the country side you could always find me with a sling, throwing rocks at the neighbour's cat or a over flying bird. As i got older I started to get interested in hunting and at the age of 15 got into competitive hunting.

I am currently a member of the Cape Hunting Association that is committed to safe hunting for the hunter and the hunted as well as the local shooting range.

Camping and the outdoors

Since I can remember I have loved the out doors as a kid I would even camp out in our own back yard. As I grew older camping started to interest me more and more till the point where it became an every weekend thing.

One of my most resent and "outrages" camping experiences i have organized and attended was backpacking through Middle Africa (Malawi, Mozambique, Botswana)  for four weeks with a group of friends.

I love the out doors and connecting with nature in one way or another from rock climbing to animal resque to dirt  track motorcycling.
