Reactor Operator & IT Network/Database Administrator and Programmer

US Navy

Received training in Nuclear Engineering and was directly responsible for the supervision of the nuclear propulsion plants onboard the USS Enterprise while on watch as a Reactor Operator.  Maintained, upgraded, and redesigned several SQL databases (SQL Server 2000) for greater reliability and speed.  Converted several database front ends from Microsoft Access to intranet web-based portals using PHP and JavaScript, saving much downtime and many man hours.  Received Microsoft MCSE training.  Improved existing database access using VB.NET.   

Key Contributions:

-Maintained all protective equipment for the safe operation of eight nuclear power plants.

-Built an intranet homepage making everything easily accessible and streamlined processes.

-Created web-based database providing real-time access to view watchbills from any networked computer, cutting down on man hours and eliminated crashing problem of former database. 

-Increased reliability, security, and speed of network by updating equipment and software.
