Oregon Health & Science University - Internal Medicine & Geriatrics
Manage all operations of an ambulatory internal medicine teaching practice; duties include administration & financial management, change management in a tier 3 medical home; investing in process improvement by using lean techniques in an academic environment.
Responsible for 27 faculty and 44 residents while in practice to ensure quality healthcare is offered to all patients, provide supportive environment to ensure their success.
Direct and supervise a staff of 47; recruit, coach, employ and evaluation of staff including patient access specialists, medical assistants, billing coordinators, data analysts, RN care Managers, pharmacy care managers, social workers, panel coordinators and managed care coordinators.
Monitor and ensure compliance with the Joint Commission, HIPAA, OSHA, AFSCME, ONA , Medicaid & Medicare.
Develop and implement clinic policies, procedures and standard workflows including those pertaining to pharmacy dispensing, administrative protocols, practice management, patient flow, recruitment and employment.
Provide leadership to maintain lean practices such as the daily management system, going to the gemba and continuous improvement methods through lean tools.
Contributes to the vision and strategic planning for internal medicine to move forward with process improvement work by ensuring total employee, provider and resident involvement in order to sustain improvement efforts.
