Brock University

I am currently performing western blotting, and immunohistochemistry assays. In addition, our lab recently acquired a molecular imager (BioRad VersaDoc) and I was in charge of teaching others in the lab to use QuantityOne, the imaging software. My responsibilities also included assisting others in their projects, and training new people in proper injection techniques, transcardial perfusions, tissue extraction and sectioning, and immunohistochemistry.

May 2007 - Aug 2008

Summer Student

Atomic Energy of Canada Limited

I worked on a number of different projects relating to decommissioning and waste management efforts within the Technology, Support and Development branch. Some responsibilities included contributing data to the Groundwater Monitoring Project, research for the River Remediation Project, and writing a comprehensive report on current and slated decommissioning projects at the Chalk River Laboratories site and satellite campuses.

Research Assistant and Tutor

Deep River Science Academy

The DRSA is a six-week program for high school students with an aptitude for science. My job as tutor was to plan, and direct a six-week long research project for two students at the Petawawa Research Forest. The project involved an investigation of the level of carbon sequestration in black spruce trees via carbon-14 measurement. The rest of the summer was geared toward collecting data as a research assistant.
