Skills

Skills

Public Speaking

From the time I was a junior high school student I have been confident speaking in public. As School Captain I found myself constantly speaking on public occasions and in my various advocacy work I often find myself the "man up the front". My public speaking experience ranges from formal presentations to teams of potential corporate sponsors, through to addressing large public gatherings of unruly car enthusiasts, and down to small intimate groups.

Financial Management

Various business activities over the years have exposed me to the concepts of Profit and Loss management, cash flow and so on. However these are not areas I have ever had direct responsibility for and so this area of financial management remains relatively undeveloped. However I am an excellent manager of my local budgets. The No Limits Performance enterprise was run profitably for the seven years of its existence.  I have spent years working to tight project budgets - that is what honest mechanical repairs are all about after all.

Time Management

I manage my time extremely well, understanding the various pressures which are placed on it in any given day. I have a well developed ability to assess and assign priority to all my activities and commitments, and those which intrude on my day without any warning.

People Management

Managing the resources associated with people and their work is I have had some exposure to in the various engineering workshops in which I have been employed.  The management team at Ayers Automotive went out of their way to include me in staff management issues, planning and problem solving.  I am currently committed to a year long formal leadership course and I have been actively engaged as a leader at Frenchs Forest Baptist Church where I am coached on leadership and people management skills. I consider my ability to inspire people into 'followership' a strong natural trait and gift and is something I wish to mature.

Conflict Resolution

I consider one of my gifts to be conflict resolution. While I have not undertaken any specific training it is a skill and leadership quality recognised by my former Headmaster and other staff at my high school and which I am continually exercising among those I am working with in young adult and youth programs.

Event Management

I have extensive event management experience, primarily from my years of coordinating up to 200 enthusiasts in a car club. Events were weekly and in some cases involved out of state members. Event management always included liaison with the local councils, the RTA and various commands of the NSW Police. It involved working with the media leading up to specific large scale events and coordinating follow-up media events with Hoyts Cinemas. The latter involved extensive and time consuming preparation of video and other multi-media based material.    On a smaller scale I have been involved for many years in the coordination of church youth events.
