Joshua Jackson

Summary

I am a motivated self-starter with a solid academic foundation and cross-functional training and experience. I have great interpersonal skills and take and give directions very well; a skill set that makes me easy to work with and a joy to those I am employed by. At my previous positions I learned the importance of analytical as well as quantitative problem solving, a set of skills that lets employers know I can think for myself, as well as handle most if not all low level conflicts on my own. I am moderately PC proficient, (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)I work well either solo or in group settings and last but certainly not lest I am responsible, reliable, and can be trusted to be held accountable for my own actions.

21st Century Camp Counselor

Plainfield Board of Education

July, 2010 I began working under the Plainfield Board of Education as a camp counselor. The 21st century summer school program was designed by Mrs. Denise Shipman, but was directly run by Ms. Brenda Noble. The camp was designed to help raise late middle school/ early high school students mathematical and language arts scores in terms of standardized testing. During my employment, I was responsible for the distribution of the children's breakfast and lunch. Counselors were required to take accurate attendance while signing students in for breakfast, or releasing them after lunch. Unlike the summer camp position held in 2009, the counselors began to take on the roles of teachers; I was responsible, for preparing weekly lesson plans, grading all assigned work, and direct supervision of the children. A position that has helped sharpen my organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

Sales Associate

American Eagle Outfitters

During my time at American Eagle Outfitters, I was cycled between working at the cash register, stocking clothes, unpacking boxes in the back, greeting customers, and helping customers. Most days went by quickly because the tasks range and change often. Sometimes this variety in daily tasks provided a fun new work environment but it also brought on its fair amount of stress. Stressful working situations encountered during my time here taught me the importance of patience, and the importance of giving and following good directions.
