What Is Waldorf Education?

Developed by Rudolf Steiner in 1919, Waldorf Education is based on a profound understanding of human development that addresses the needs of the growing child. Waldorf teachers strive to transform education into an art that educates the whole child—the heart and the hands, as well as the head. Teachers in Waldorf schools are dedicated to generating an inner enthusiasm for learning within every child, allowing motivation to arise from within and helping engender the capacity for joyful lifelong learning.

Wise Up

The main methodological approach is the Task-Based Language Learning (TBLL):  it focuses on the use of authentic language and on asking students to do meaningful tasks using the target language. The course also focus on Strategic Competence: the ability to solve communication problems despite an inadequate command of the linguistic and sociocultural code. A third aspect of the methodology is the Multi-level classes, in other words, a group of students who learn and study together in one room, despite having varying levels of abilities and/or literacy backgrounds. The levels are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, except for the INTRO level which was created to adapt the students' need.

I could boost my ELT knowledge in Business English:  I prepared students for job interviews, presentations, and technical vocabulary and expressions for transactional contexts. I learned how to teach in Immersion Courses (Intensive English workshops) that usually took place over the weekends at hotels. It was an important and rewarding professional experience.

Wall Street Institute

The Wall Street Institute Method  was one of the best methodologies I have ever worked with: it was a practical and results-oriented way of learning to communicate effectively in English. Here I had the opportunity to first experience some technology (CALL) applied to ELT.
